About Us
Girl’s Camp for Life was created and founded by Sara Marchessault, owner of Joyful by Design: Life Coaching for Women. Sara’s vision for Girl’s Camp for Life is to bring knowledge and experiences to young women that prepare them for life’s transitions, challenges, celebrations, and growth opportunities. Ideally, Sara would love to see all young women grow into adults with a secure sense of who they are, a high amount of self-worth, and the ability to problem solve. Ultimately, Sara’s mission is to support and empower women and girls to “Create a Life You Love to Live.”
Sara has experience in many roles in the field of education. She has been a classroom educator, an academic coach for small groups and one-on-one sessions, a training developer and instructor for adult learners in both non-profit and corporate settings, and a school improvement facilitator for the State of Florida. Most recently, Sara has been working with the Florida Department of Education managing student progression and the recent initiative, Major Areas of Interest, as well as teaching College Success at Tallahassee Community College. Sara’s extensive experience working in and around educational settings includes helping parents and students understand what is required to meet state standards for progression and providing resources for educational solutions. She understands the needs and learning styles of young people and is excited to offer the Girl’s Camp for Life Program as a means of focusing on the critical knowledge and skills that often fall between the cracks in our school system today.
In 2006, Sara became a certified Life Coach. She works with women and girls to provide support, encouragement, and solutions through times of transition. Some examples of coaching topics for teens are completing and graduating high school, starting college, exploring options for taking a year off before college, enhancing relationships with friends and parents, and improving communication skills. The process Sara uses works to increase the quality of life for her clients and support them through successful transitions. A happy by-product of her work on the specific needs of her clients is that young women also often experience more energy, an increased zest for life, more opportunity, higher self-confidence, and better decision-making skills.
Sara is excited to incorporate Girl’s Camp for Life into her venture. She has dreamed for several years now of running a camp for girls that focuses on the character development of young women and is now seeing that dream come into a reality.
